A new version of the Broadband Serviceable Location Fabric (Fabric), Version 2, is now available to internet service providers, governmental entities, and other entities that have executed a license agreement with the FCC’s Fabric contractor, CostQuest.
Entities submitting fixed broadband availability data as of December 31, 2022, in the BDC system must use Version 2 of the Fabric when preparing and uploading data for that filing, the deadline for which is March 1, 2023. In addition, entities submitting bulk Fabric challenges on or after January 3, 2023, must base their submissions on Version 2 of the Fabric.
The National Broadband Map will display location databased upon Version 1 of the Fabric until availability data as of December 31, 2022, is published on the map in Spring 2023. Bulk fixed availability challenges, should therefore continue to be based on Version 1 of the Fabric until the December 31, 2022, availability data is published on the Map in the Spring. (Individual challenges to both location and availability data, which are submitted directly using the National Broadband Map challenge interface, will also continue to be based on Version 1 of the Fabric until the December 31, 2022, availability data are published.)
